Happy New Year!

Flox Team | 1 January 2023
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We hope you're as excited for 2023 as we are!

2022 was a pivotal year for flox. Our team grew to over a dozen people, globally distributed. As you might imagine, much of our time and effort has been focused on shipping our beta. A huge thank you to those trying out flox, reporting bugs, and offering crucial feedback as we build. We are delighted with the response towards the platform and CLI, and very grateful for the many fascinating conversations we had with users.

We lived and breathed Nix and plan to do even more in 2023! We are proud of our team who contributed to the Nix ecosystem in so many ways. Our Lead Engineer Tom Bereknyei contributed commits and helped shepherd RFCs, hosted many Nix Office Hours, and produced video walkthroughs for Nix releases in his role on the Nix Marketing team. Additionally, the Nix board was inaugurated with our CEO Ron Efroni who has been working on a bunch of efforts across the community (announcement). We also helped organize NixCon in Paris, which was an absolute blast–read our retrospective here.

2023 is going to be a banner year for flox and Nix both, with the opportunity to see Nix in action in more places than ever before. We are growing and actively hiring, with the explicit mission of getting Nix into everyone’s hands, from solo dev to enterprise. If this sounds like something you would like to work on, please reach out! We will be active at conferences this year with the goal of introducing flox and Nix to a wider audience, starting with FOSDEM in early February. We'll also be looking to celebrate the 20 years of Nix this March, so stay tuned :)

May the new year bring you nothing but green builds and reproducible environments!
